Summer heat, batteries and parking mode: caring for your dashcam

Australian summers are hard on dashcams. A parked car can pass 60°C inside, which affects adhesive mounts, batteries and the camera itself.

Check your mount at the start of summer. If the camera has sagged or shifted, the adhesive has softened — we can re-seat it with a fresh 3M pad.

Prefer a supercapacitor dashcam over an internal-battery model. Supercapacitors handle extreme heat far better and are what we recommend for every Australian install.

Parking mode draws power from your car battery, so the low-voltage cut-off in your hardwire kit matters. It shuts the camera off before the battery drops too low to start the car.

If your car sits unused for long periods, lower the parking-mode timer or switch to impact-only recording to reduce the draw.

Older or weak car batteries are the usual culprit behind 'parking mode drained my battery'. Have the battery tested before blaming the dashcam — and give us a call if you'd like the cut-off settings adjusted.
