How dashcam hardwiring and parking mode works

Most dashcams ship with a 12V cigarette lighter cable. That's fine for casual recording, but it only powers the dashcam while the car is on.
Hardwiring connects your dashcam directly to your fuse box through a low-voltage cut-off device. This unlocks parking mode — your dashcam keeps recording while parked.
The voltage cut-off is critical: it monitors your battery and switches the dashcam off before the battery is too low to start the car. Done properly, parking mode is completely safe.
Every Car Dashcam Sydney hardwire install includes a quality cut-off device, neat fuse-tap wiring and full configuration of motion/impact triggers.
